I will admit I was drawn in by the beautiful cover and the title Dancing in the Desert. Something about just called to me. At the start of the book is an introduction to the NLT translation, and a user's guide explaining all the features of the bible. In the rear of the book was an excellent feature called the Devotional Bible Reading Toolkit. It had lots of handy advice about reading and applying what you have read. This is great for someone with the attention span of a puppy at a squirrel party. The introductions to each book are written out very well and provide a new way to look at the book as you read. The devotionals help provide and excellent way to connect to the people you are reading about. It does a great job connecting helping you understand and connect the bible to present and to you as a human being. I love it, and highly recommend that anyone who is looking for a way to deepen your walk with God to give this bible a read.

Renouard goes back to his ship and realises that he has been powerfully affected by the girl.

Good project book for someone already familiar with mechatronics

This book provides great practice via projects for students/practitioners of mechatronics that are already pretty familiar with electronics and feel comfortable with constructing elementary mechanical devices. There is some theory provided for each project, and it would be enough for someone to construct each device but not necessarily understand the science behind each device if you do not have a sufficient background in mechatronics already. My personal favorite was the analog computer, primarily because in this day and age, I find many young engineers that don't even know what an analog computer is! I especially recommend this book to teachers who want to motivate their students to study engineering by showing them what interesting devices can be built. I notice Amazon shows nothing about the table of contents, so I show that here:

Simple Electronic & Basic Mechanic Projects for Schools

This book is pitched at the Grade 10 to 12 student in a secondary school. Unfortunately,this is not clear from the title. The focus is on the electronics side. It does not go into robotics and what "mechanical" components shown are very basic.
Having said the above the content IS very suitable for the secondary student without getting bogged in the maths of electronics.

True Genius Stuff... A lot of different Concepts in 1 book

Definitely has a Genius touch to it. But must of the projects are easy to comprehend.

The author hands out the right amount of information how to build the different projects, letting you figure out the rest.
That`s important for your learning curve so you won't only mimic what you read.
These projects need some gentle touch to them, and a lot of patients, so make sure you fit them to the right age group.
I love these kind of project - Mixing mechanics and electronics.

This text is a veritable bible of traditional metaphysics and anthropology. In his Studies in Hinduism and Introduction to the Study of the Hindu Doctines, Guénon treats historical and cosmological aspects of Hinduism in further detail.

René Guénon (1886–1951) was one of the great luminaries of the twentieth century, whose critique of the modern world has stood fast against the shifting sands of intellectual fashion. His extensive writings, now finally available in English, are a providential treasure-trove for the modern seeker: while pointing ceaselessly to the perennial wisdom found in past cultures ranging from the Shamanistic to the Indian and Chinese, the Hellenic and Judaic, the Christian and Islamic, and including also Alchemy, Hermeticism, and other esoteric currents, they direct the reader also to the deepest level of religious praxis, emphasizing the need for affiliation with a revealed tradition even while acknowledging the final identity of all spiritual paths as they approach the summit of spiritual realization. René Guénon, of whom Jacob Needleman wrote in The Sword of Gnosis that ‘no other modern writer has so effectively communicated the absoluteness of truth,’ is gradually being recognized by deeper thinkers as one of the few who have truly penetrated the seductive veil of the modern age. As an expositor of pure metaphysics and its application to the science of symbols, Guénon is without peer; and his extraordinarily prescient critique of the modern world is attracting more and more attention among cultural commentators. Little known in the English-speaking world till the recent appearance of his Collected Works in translation, Guénon has nevertheless long been recognized as a veritable criterion of truth by a vanguard of remarkable writers who evince that rare combination: intellectuality and spirituality. After a lonely childhood, often interrupted by ill health, Guénon navigated the seductive half-truths of occultism toward a deeper, unified vision offering a way out from the confusion and fragmentation of our time. The Goal is Union with the Ultimate

Coomaraswamy called this work the best account of the Vedanta in any European language. Coomaraswamy would have known.

Guenon points out that the Vedanta is neither religion, nor is it a philosophy, in the Western sense. What is it then? It is a complete way of life. More than this, it is in and of itself, the totality of existence. It is the true Metaphysic. You see, Western thinking always categorizes and systematizes. It views what it studies from outside- and manages to sterilize and kill it. This is why the western man finds it so easy to put aside his "religion" and "philosophy" when comes the opportunity for exploitation and war. You cannot put aside the Vedanta, for it is the totality of existence- including you. It is Reality. And the farther you separate yourself from it, the less "real" you become. The end result of a profane society is a world of shadow with no real substance at all.

The goal of the Vedanta is unity with the Universal. You seek alignment with that which was before all else. More specifically you seek to realize this union consciously, for you, and everything and every being, emanated from this Source. You still contain a Divine spark or seed at the core of your being. You realize this with your heart through Intuition and not through your brain and its lesser form of knowing. The more you rely on the brain and its elaborate ego constructs the farther you stray from the Ultimate Source and Goal.

There are many subtle variations on finding the path back- many schools of Yoga. Just remember, in all of them Yoga still means "Union"- the goal is the same. To reach it is to rise above caste through transcendence.

If you are already familiar with the teachings of Taoism, Neo-Platonism, or Hermetism then you will digest this study more readily. This is because these other branches of tradition drew from the original Tradition expressed first by the Vedanta.

Anyone that attempts to use the Tradition for profane and veiled ends that ignore the inherent divinity within all beings will no doubt deserve what they will inevitably get.

Shatters all Illusions!

This will be the most important book you will ever read. If you want to know the real TRUTH of the 'meaning' of Life and what actually happens when you die, read this book. Not for beginners, dabblers or dilettantes.

I also recommend Guenon's "The Reign of Quantity" as crucial in unveiling our current miasma of amnesia of this Cycle of Time.

The closest a book will ever get you

René Guénon's exposition of the Vedanta - along with its companions "The Symbolism of the Cross" and "The Multiple States of the Being - is the only complete work that translates the theory of oriental metaphysics into a language apropriate for westerners, while still remaining faithful to its spirit.
There are thousands of books written to attract "spiritual seekers", but at the most, they are merely a glimpse - one might even say a temptation to oversimplify - of what one actually can attain through spriritual realization. No book can ever replace spiritual practice, but this collection is the only one that can convey its true implications.
